Talking the business of sports
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Houston Astros, 6-5, on Friday night in a drama-filled Game 1 of the 2022 World Series. The Phillies, who came back from a five-run deficit, now possess a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. J.T. Realmuto hit the game-winning home run against Luis Garcia in the 10th inning to hand Houston its first loss of the 2022 postseason.
The Astros established an early 5-0 lead behind a pair of Kyle Tucker home runs. The Astros outfielder took Phillies starter Aaron Nola deep in both the second and third innings. The Phillies clawed their way back into the game, however, tying things up at 5-5 in the fifth inning against Astros ace Justin Verlander.
The score remained tied heading into the bottom of the ninth, when Jose Altuve singled and stole a base to put himself in scoring position. Nick Castellanos then made an impressive sliding grab to send the game into extra innings. That’s when Realmuto homered and the Phillies were able to secure the victory and steal Game 1 on the road.
CBS Sports will have more on this development temporarily.

A wild pitch has the Astros 180 feet away from a win.
Almost looked like they pitched around him. To put the go-ahead run on base though, probably not.
So it’ll be Aledmys Díaz pinch hitting for Trey Mancini with the tying run on second and the winning run on first.
It’s up to Gurriel with two outs and the tying run on second.
Phillies still better than 70 percent to hang on, but it’s getting dicey.
This game … #WorldSeries
It was never gonna be easy against these guys. The tying run is on second with one out for Kyle Tucker, who already has two homers and five RBI.
That’s a big first out for Robertson and Phils.
Robertson gets Alvarez swinging. Here’s Alex Bregman
Robertson versus Alvarez feels particularly perilous.
Alvarez, Bregman, Tucker vs. Robertson. Phillies leading 6-5. Buckle up.
They have three offensive outs to get at least one run, and the Phillies have an 83.3 percent chance of winning Game 1.
It’s 6-5 Phillies. It’ll be David Robertson against the heart of the Astros order
J.T. Realmuto of the @Phillies is the only player in MLB history to have both an inside-the-park HR and an extra-inning HR in his postseason career.
(at least for now). Alvarez, Bregman and Tucker due up in the bottom of the ninth for Houston.

From @ESPNStatsInfo: J.T. Realmuto is the first catcher with an extra-inning World Series home run since Carlton Fisk’s walk-off in Game 6 of 1975.
Down 5-0 to up 6-5.
This is now the fifth consecutive postseason game between the Phillies and Astros to go extra innings.

After being down 5-0 early, the Phillies now lead the Astros 6-5 in the 10th. Philly now has an 84.2 percent chance of winning Game 1.
