What channel is Oregon vs. UCLA on today? Time, TV schedule for high-stakes Pac-12 game – Sporting News

  • October 22, 2022

Week 8 of the college football season features a high-stakes game in the Pac-12 between unassuming teams at the start of the season.
No. 10 Oregon (5-1) will play host to No. 10 UCLA (6-0) in Eugene, Ore., this Saturday — the lone meeting of top-10 teams for the week. The outcome of the game will leave only one team undefeated in Pac-12 play and impact whether the conference can make the College Football Playoff for only the third time; remember, the conference did away with divisions this year.
As of now, the best hopes for the conference lie with UCLA, the lone undefeated team left in the Pac-12, and USC, which is 6-1 on the season. (Ironic, considering those teams will leave for the Big Ten in 2024.)
Oregon has an outside shot at the playoff, of course. But the Ducks would need to win out and perhaps receive a little help from the likes of Clemson, TCU and others (the Big Ten and SEC have several teams ahead of Oregon in the latest AP Top 25, many of whom will play each other). Speaking of the SEC, how heavily would the Ducks’ 49-3 loss to Georgia weigh on the playoff committee’s mind?

But those are issues for another day.
Saturday’s meeting has plenty of intrigue, not least of which is former Ducks coach Chip Kelly returning to Eugene for only the third time time since leaving the program after the 2012 season. Kelly took a crack at the NFL with the Eagles (2013-15) and 49ers (2016).
It appears Kelly has finally gotten his groove back after three frustrating seasons in Los Angeles, leading the Bruins to their first 6-0 start since 2005. That’s thanks in large part to the play of quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a dark horse Heisman Trophy candidate. He has completed 122 of 163 passes (74.8 percent) for 1,510 yards and 15 touchdowns to two interceptions. He also has 231 rushing yards (5.5 ypc) for four more scores.
He’ll likely be in a high-powered quarterback duel with Oregon’s Bo Nix. The Auburn transfer has completed 131 of 186 passes (70.4 percent) for 1,526 yards and 12 touchdowns to three interceptions. Like Thompson-Robinson, Nix is a dual-threat quarterback, rushing for 331 yards (8.1 ypc) and eight scores.
