‘s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong – as expected – is going to head down to the club with the Red Devils preparing to restart negotiations. United had reached an agreement on a fee with some weeks ago but that has since expired after De Jong refused to entertain leaving the La Liga giants.
However, United are going back in for the Dutchman as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his team before the window shuts on September 1. Along with De Jong, the likes of Antony, Cody Gakpo, Casemiro and a new right-back and goalkeeper could come through the doors at Old Trafford.
United are not the only club in the Premier League busy working on transfers, with the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle still keen to add to the business they’ve already done. The former has already made seven signings so far but Antonio Conte is not fully satisfied and still wants a creative midfielder.
Nicolo Zaniolo is his No 1 target, and though the Italian is in talks to extend his contract at Roma, Jose Mourinho has admitted the midfielder could still leave. Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi has been identified as an alternative should a move for Zaniolo fail to come to fruition.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are close to sealing a deal for Joao Pedro from Watford and are eyeing a £10million move for Maxi Gomez. Other clubs in the Premier League such as Chelsea and Arsenal are also expected to welcome one more fresh face before the window shuts.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag shed some light on the team’s transfer plan after their crucial 2-1 win over Liverpool.
“I don’t have to mention Maguire, Ronaldo… they will play a role in the future,” insisted the Dutchman. “We said we want to bring the right players in, the window is not closed and you need not only numbers, but quality.”
Ten Hag is expected to welcome at least one of Antony or Cody Gakpo to bolster his attack, while a return to negotiations for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has not been ruled out.
Eric Bailly’s loan move from Manchester United to Marseille will automatically become permanent if the French side qualify for next season’s Champions League, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano
The centre-back has been unable to force his way into Erik ten Hag’s plans and could land in Marseille tomorrow to tie up the final details of the deal.
Lisandro Martinez’s arrival at Old Trafford this summer was only set to make Bailly’s life more difficult in terms of game time and Marseille could grant him a route back to regular action.
Chelsea are confident of signing Anthony Gordon this week and the Blues are also working on a deal to land AC Milan star Rafael Leao, according to The Times
Reports from Spain indicated that Chelsea were also close to signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona and expect the deal to be completed imminently.
It remains to be seen which of the attacking trio are brought to Stamford Bridge as co-owner Todd Boehly keeps his foot on the gas in the transfer market.
Chelsea outcast Hakim Ziyech held more talks with Ajax today, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano
Thomas Tuchel supposedly green-lighted the notion of Ziyech leaving earlier this summer as he has plenty of wide options to choose from.
The Dutch giants, from whom he joined Chelsea in 2020, view the Moroccan as a replacement for Manchester United target Antony.
Ziyech’s prospective move could therefore depend on whether United cough up enough cash to sign the Brazilian.
Barcelona have hit complications in their pursuit of Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso, according to COPE
The Spaniard’s move to the Camp Nou was thought to be a formality, so long as Barca got their finances in order and made space on their wage bill.
But Chelsea’s attempts to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from La Blaugrana may have made matters difficult, particularly after they tried to introduce Alonso as part of the deal.
In case it falls through altogether, Barcelona are reportedly eyeing up Javi Galan as an alternative.
Speak of the devil… of the six aforementioned players that Newcastle are in with a shout of signing, Joao Pedro may have just taken a giant step closer to St James’ Park.
The Magpies have agreed a £25million deal for the Watford youngster, according to talkSPORT
Eddie Howe is keen to add more goals to his side despite an entertaining 3-3 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
While Pedro is yet to find a formidable rhythm in terms of scoring, he is tipped for a big future at 20 years old.
Newcastle United are still in with a shout of signing six players before the window slams shut on September 1, according to The Telegraph
Leeds star Jack Harrison and Watford youngster Joao Pedro have been described as ‘in play’, while discussions are still being held about Chelsea duo Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic. More talks have taken place about launching a bid for Lyon’s Lucas Paqueta and Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez is also of interest.
While the Magpies won’t have space in the squad to sign all of them, landing one or two over the next 10 days remains a possibility.
Chelsea are supposedly keeping tabs on Brighton defender Adam Webster in case their move for Wesley Fofana doesn’t work out.
The Leicester star was left out of the squad to face Southampton on Saturday as he is keen to head to Stamford Bridge, but the Foxes are holding out for a massive fee.
The Daily Mail claim that Webster is being eyed up as an alternative in case an agreement can’t be struck for Fofana. Brighton have already sold fellow defender Marc Cucurella to Chelsea this summer.
Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri will join West Ham this summer after all parties reached an agreement, according to Fabrizio Romano
The Hammers are set to fork out £13million with another £2m in add-ons and the first part of his medical will be conducted on Monday.
Palmieri’s arrival at the London Stadium will be welcomed by David Moyes, who has overseen a dreadful start to the season with three defeats from three. Emerson PalmieriCrystal Palace are weighing up a move for Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare, according to Sky Sports

While Chelsea have been given hope in their pursuit of Leicester defender Wesley Fofana, they have reportedly made another breakthrough in negotiations for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Blues and Barca have reached an agreement on a total package worth £23million, according to Relevo
Personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue which means that the former Arsenal star could soon be back in the Premier League. Both sides are thought to be optimistic that the deal can be completed in the coming hours.
The Frenkie de Jong transfer saga could be set to run until the deadline passes next Thursday and the updates keep on coming.
Manchester United still have hope of signing the Barcelona ace after a meeting was reportedly set up between the Catalan giants and the player’s agents in an attempt to force a move. De Jong played 85 minutes as his side thrashed Real Sociedad 4-1 on Sunday night but could still be heading for the Nou Camp exit.
Arsenal are reportedly set to bid for Leicester star Youri Tielemans this week – but he is not the only midfielder they are interested in. Tielemans has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer and could finally be on his way.

Chelsea have been given fresh hope over the possibility of signing Wesley Fofana, with it claimed Leicester are now ready to sell the French defender.

But the Blues have still yet to put an offer meeting that amount on the table as of yet.

Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers left out the centre-back in their 2-1 defeat against Southampton after agreeing that he had become distracted by the noise surrounding his future.
Manchester United transfer target Antony will reportedly try one last time to force his Ajax exit this week as he looks to push through a move to Old Trafford. The winger spent two seasons playing under current Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag in the Netherlands and could be set to reunite with his former mentor before the transfer window shuts at the start of next month.

Manchester United are yet to make an offer for Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, according to Sky Sports Germany. There are no swap deals on the agenda, so the USA international is likely to stay at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Pulisic arrived in west London from Borussia Dortmund three years ago but has since been ravaged by injury problems and has failed to have the impact he would have liked for the Blues.
Manchester United reportedly want to make four new signings before the transfer deadline, but won’t bring in both Antony and Cody Gakpo. The Red Devils are only looking to land one of the attackers this summer as they seek reinforcements following their dismal start to the campaign.
