Noel Whelan has backed Tottenham to join the chase for Jan Oblak in 2023 as they hunt for a long-term Hugo Lloris replacement.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old is one of three signings Antonio Conte will be targeting in 2023.
According to the London Evening Standard (29 September), Tottenham have drawn up a Lloris succession plan with Atletico Madrid shot-stopper Oblak among their targets.
The report claims they have identified Oblak as a primary target and have sounded out the Slovenian about a possible move next summer (2023).
Lloris, who was linked with a return to France last year (2021), is out of contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June 2024.
He has racked up over 400 appearances for Spurs during 10 years of service at the club.

Whelan suggested Tottenham could face competition from Man United for Oblak with David de Gea’s contract set to expire next summer.
When asked if Spurs are doing the right thing by seeking a long-term Lloris replacement, he told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Yeah, of course.
“Lloris isn’t getting any worse – but he’s not getting any younger.
“They’ve covered bases in attack and midfield. Now all you’re looking at for Tottenham is maybe a centre-back, a wing-back, and a goalkeeper.
“Lloris may want to finish his career in France, there was some speculation last season and his contract is up soon.
“Oblak, he’ll be wanted by many clubs. It won’t be just Tottenham. I understand that Man United could see him as a replacement for De Gea.
“He’s incredible and probably the one goalkeeper in the world that most clubs will want to go out and buy next summer.”
