Paul Robinson has suggested Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier is a natural successor to Hugo Lloris at Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England number one said Meslier, 22, is in effect a “bigger” and younger version of Lloris, 35.
According to The Athletic‘s Phil Hay (26 September), Spurs are interested in signing Meslier next summer.
The Yorkshire club are braced to receive bids for their number one after selling Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha in the previous window.
Meslier has four years remaining on his deal at Elland Road.
Lloris’ contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires at the end of June 2024.

Robinson, who moved from Leeds to Spurs in May 2004, said Meslier should not move to Spurs while Lloris is still there.
“Meslier is very similar to Lloris,” he told Football Insider.
“He is taller and bigger in stature to Lloris but he is left-footed, French, agile and commands his box. They are both great shot-stoppers.
“If Spurs did sign him it would be a smooth transition. To move to a club like Tottenham with the ambition they are showing, it would be a great move for him. There is talk of Man United being interested in him as well.
“Spurs would definitely be a forward move for him in his career.
“There would be no benefit of him going there and waiting his turn behind Lloris though. He would lose a season if he did that. I see no advantage in him going there to be number two to Lloris for a year.
“Meslier has to be the number one wherever he goes.”
