Paul Pogba left Manchester United to join Juventus on a free transfer last summer. But since arriving at his new club, the Frenchman has not managed to play even a minute of competitive football due to a serious knee injury.
In an interview with L’Équipe, Pogba’s current teammate Arkadiusz Milik, who joined the Italian club from Marseille on a season-long loan deal in the last summer transfer window, issued an update on the fitness of the midfielder.
Explaining that he would like to play more with the former Man United man, Milik remains hopeful of seeing the 29-year-old back before the start of the 2022 World Cup. Milik said:
“We are waiting for him (Pogba) patiently. We have to give him time to come back, but we all know the player he is. Let’s hope he gets back to form, that way he will help both Juve and the French team.”
Pogba underwent surgery on his right knee on September 5. It was initially expected that he would be ruled out of the World Cup. But a stable recovery has given a massive boost to his chances of representing Les Bleus in Qatar later this year. The 2018 World Cup winner returned to training with his teammates at Juventus last week and could be part of Juve’s squad for the Serie A fixture against Lecce next Saturday.
