Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp reveals Jordan Henderson injury update –

  • October 28, 2022

Liverpool sealed a 3-0 victory in their Champions League clash with Ajax last night, which saw them qualify for the next stage of the competition, but it wasn’t all good news as a new injury concern was revealed during the game.

Jordan Henderson was forced off the pitch in the last 19 minutes of the game in Amsterdam on Wednesday night, but Jurgen Klopp revealed a promising update on the injury concern.
Klopp responded to concerns about the Liverpool captain from the media in his post-match interview (via Liverpool Echo):
“I think so, I was worried as well, I saw the situation because it was in front of me.

“I think he got knee on knee, so (it was) painful. A bruise, probably, really painful. But as far as I know now nothing else.”
“Everyone else is okay. We didn’t spend too much time in the dressing room (after the game) but nobody came to me with bigger problems.”
The last thing Liverpool need right now is more injuries to key players during their remaining fixtures ahead of the World Cup next month, so it’s really good news for the Reds that Henderson should avoid a spell on the sidelines.
Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Arthur Melo, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are all currently battling injury and illnesses with injuries consistently plaguing the side over the season so far which has definitely contributed to their struggle for form in the Premier League.

Liverpool are currently 8th in the league table after a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend and are now not only five points adrift from Newcastle United in fourth, but have collected 12 fewer points than Arsenal at the top of the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will host Leeds United at Anfield this weekend, and the German coach should have players returning for the clash including Naby Keita, who can hopefully make a difference in the centre of the pitch if selected to start.
With that being said, the Liverpool manager will be hoping that his players can hold out for a few more weeks to give the club the best chance of closing down some of their top four competitors before the international tournament commences in the second week of November.
