Allen Lazard made six catches for 55 yards in the Green Bay Packers’ 23-21 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 7 despite having to miss a lot of plays because his shoulder was in pain. His performance (WR30 in PPR, WR41 in standard) was pretty good considering he was only on the field for 59% of the snaps.
On the season, Lazard is leading the Packers in receiving yards and touchdowns and a close second in targets. He is the WR26 in PPR and WR21 in standard.
But will his shoulder pain prevent him from suiting up in Week 8? Here is the latest news on Allen Lazard and how it impacts him and the Green Bay receivers.

Allen Lazard’s shoulder was bothering him during the game against Washington. It didn’t cause him to leave the game, but he did spend a lot of time on the sidelines, and he walked to the locker room in a sling.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur didn’t provide many details, but he did say after the game, “He hurt his shoulder and I’m gonna kinda leave it at that and see how it heals throughout the course of the week.”
The Packers’ next game is a Sunday Night Football showdown against the Buffalo Bills, and it isn’t looking good for their receiver room. Randall Cobb missed Week 7 after being placed on the injured reserve and Christian Watson (hamstring) missed the past two games.

Allen Lazard has finished as a WR3 or better in each of the past five games. He finished as a WR2 in Weeks 4 and 5 and just missed WR1 status by one spot in Week 6. He is a good start when healthy.
In a Packers offense without an alpha WR, Lazard has a target rate of 20% when he’s on the field. He’s lining up wide more than he ever has before, and his 1.70 yards per route run is higher than his career average.
You must watch the practice reports and final injury reports to see if he is a go for Week 8. He played through the injury in Week 7, but he played 40% fewer snaps than he usually does.

The second-leading WR for the Packers in Week 7 was Sammy Watkins. Romeo Doubs was targeted four times but didn’t make a single catch. Watkins missed Weeks 3-6 but had three catches for 93 yards in Week 2. Doubs has been inconsistent and has only caught 61.9% of passes thrown his way. At times QB Aaron Rodgers has appeared to lack confidence in him.
In the absence of another WR, RB Aaron Jones will get a lot more targets, as will TE Robert Tonyan. Jones made nine catches on 10 targets for 53 yards and two touchdowns in Week 7.
A wild card is a potential Packers trade. The Packers are reportedly aggressively seeking a new WR. Names like Chase Claypool and D.J. Moore have been thrown out. The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 1st, so they might get through the week without making a trade.
