TALLAHASSEE — Florida State coach Mike Norvell updated the status of several starters who’ve been dealing with injuries ahead of the Seminoles’ rivalry contest against Miami.
First Norvell addressed DT Fabien Lovett, who started against Georgia Tech this past weekend after missing five consecutive games with a lower-leg injury. Lovett played about 20-25 snaps versus the Yellow Jackets and performed well. He actually had the big toe on the foot that wasn’t previously injured stepped on in the contest, but Norvell was very optimistic about Lovett’s status exiting the game.
The coach said that he anticipates Lovett having a “great” week of preparation ahead of the rivalry game.
He then discussed starting RB Treshaun Ward, who missed FSU’s last two games with an upper-body injury. Ward saw an increased workload later last week, but FSU didn’t push his return. Norvell is “expecting him to hopefully be available” against Miami.
And then Norvell described starting right tackle Jazston Turnetine as someone the Seminoles are evaluating throughout the week.
“We’ll see how he progresses through the week,” Norvell said.
Turnetine left late in the first half against Georgia Tech with an unspecified injury and didn’t return.
