Georgia football: Kirby Smart updates Nolan Smith’s injury status – 247Sports

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Georgia Bulldogs suffered a significant loss in the first half when Nolan Smith left the game with an apparent shoulder injury. After the game, Kirby Smart offered an update on the senior’s status.
Smart told reporters after Georgia’s 42-20 victory over Florida that he thought Smith had suffered a separated shoulder but that Smart did not know the severity of the injury. Smith exited the game in the first half after recording 2 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 quarterback hurry and did not return to the action.
“We’ll find out,” Smart said, referring to the severity of Smith’s injury. “I know that Chaz [Chambliss] came in and did a really good job. Beefy [Robert Beal] did a good job and filled in for him. Marvin [Jones Jr.] had the flu so we couldn’t get Marvin in there. We had several guys who were sick coming into the game.”
Smith was one of several notable injuries sustained by the Bulldogs on Saturday.
Smart said offensive tackle Amarius Mims suffered “a slight MCL [sprain]” on Saturday but that he thought Mims would be fine. Elsewhere, offensive guard Xavier Truss was dealing with a toe injury that Smart didn’t know the severity of; Smart did not mention outside linebacker Darris Smith, who suffered an undisclosed injury on a kickoff against the Gators.
The Bulldogs will look to get healed up prior to next week, when they’ll host Tennessee in a highly-anticipated 3:30 p.m, matchup.
