Florida Football Recruiting: 5-star QB DJ Lagway makes game day visit – Gators Wire

Saturday wasn’t five-star quarterback DJ Lagway’s first trip to the Swamp, but it was his first time seeing Ben Hill Griffin Stadium filled with over 90,000 fans. That experience was a “dream come true,” for the childhood Gators fan, according to 247Sports, and he left town with a lot of respect for the program despite the loss.
“The atmosphere was so amazing,” Lagway said. “I am so excited to see where this program heads… The crowd was energetic and how the fans were showing me love. It felt amazing. I felt like I was at home, so I am excited to come back to another game.”
This was the third visit Lagway has made to UF since picking up an offer earlier this year. He’s planning on making official visits in the spring, but he could return before that. Clemson and USC are two other schools high on his list, but he holds offers from several high-profile Power Five programs.
Lagway’s recruiting timeline lines up with the eventual departure of Anthony Richardson at Florida. The Gators haven’t shied away from making comparisons to the team’s current starters, and early playing time in the SEC is enticing to any five-star quarterback looking to prove himself.
There’s still plenty of time before Lagway makes a decision, but Florida is trending in the right direction early. The 247Sports composite ranks Lagway No. 30 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 5 among quarterbacks.
