Alan Hutton has suggested Celtic don’t need to sign another centre-back in the January transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said that the Hoops’ current options in central defensive positions are “very strong”.
According to Japanese outlet Sponichi (31 October), Ange Postecoglou’s side have agreed a fee for Vissel Kobe defender Yuki Kobayashi.
The 22-year-old is said to have already decided he will make his way to Glasgow and is set to sign a contract soon.
If a deal gets over the line the left-sided centre-back will join up with his former teammate Kyogo Furuhashi.
But Hutton suggested another central defender is not what the Hoops need.

I see Celtic as very strong at this moment in time,” he told Football Insider.
But, I understand from a Celtic point of view that you can’t stand still.
I think [Moritz] Jenz and [Cameron] Carter-Vickers have got a great relationship, they look very strong together. [Stephen] Welsh and [Carl] Starfelt are obviously in there as well.
It is probably not an area that I see that is totally needed at this moment in time. But Ange will have done his homework, he probably knows the player and what he is capable of.
So he will have a good idea of what he is bringing in to the football club. If it is an opportunity to bring in a top football player I am sure they will do it.
