Barcelona defender Jules Koundé came off with a knock in the second half of their La Liga fixture against Valencia on Saturday evening.
However, speaking after the match, Koundé said that the injury was a result of fatigue. He also blamed the organiser for making the schedule for players as congested as possible. As quoted by L’Équipe, the 23-year-old Frenchman said,
“I think it’s just an overload, nothing serious. They (the organisers) should think a little more about the players. There are a lot of matches. We are sliding down a crazy path, wanting to play so many matches. But those at the top are obviously not worried.”
Since the start of the 2022/23 season, the Frenchman has played 823 minutes of football for Barça across ten appearances in all competitions. This season, he also missed a couple of league games due to an Achilles tendon injury. Didier Deschamps will announce the French squad for the upcoming World Cup on November 9. Koundé is considered one of the candidates to board the plane to Qatar for Les Bleus.
