Tonight, the Auburn football team will have their first SEC matchup under the lights at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and although there’s a chance that there may be an unfavorable outcome for those in orange and blue, the atmosphere will be outstanding.
This is great news for the Tigers seeing as the visitor list for this weekend’s game against LSU and Brian Kelly continues to grow by the day. Nine Auburn football commits between the 2023 and 2024 classes will be in attendance this weekend.
In the 2023 class, offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner will take his official visit while wide receivers Adam Hopkins and Daquayvious Sorey, running back Jeremiah Cobb, defensive backs Terrance Love and JC Hart, and edge Wilky Denaud will all be on the Plains. Both of the 2024 commits–QB Adrian Posse and DB A’mon Lane–will unofficially visit as well.
However, two recruits that have already committed to other programs will be taking official visits as well: 5-star DB Tony Mitchell, who has committed to Alabama, and 3-star LB Alex Sanford, who has committed to Arkansas.
Tony Mitchell chose to commit to Bama in late June, but has still maintained contact with Auburn football. He was at the San Jose State game earlier this season, and says that while his pledge to the Tide is firm, he wants to continue building relationships on the Plains, per Auburn Undercover. His only official visits will be to Auburn, Alabama, and Texas A&M.
Alex Sanford committed to the Razorbacks in late June as well, but the Tigers have remained firmly in his recruitment according to Christian Clemente, who credited AU linebackers Christian Robinson for keeping the Tigers in it with Sanford. Though committed to Arkansas, Clemente reports that Auburn could sneak into this one and ultimately flip Sanford.
While getting these highly-ranked recruits on campus is certainly a big deal, it can only go so far when the on-field product is not up to standards. Hopefully a favorable outcome this weekend will give Auburn football the recruiting boost it needs.
