Alabama football coach Nick Saban gives injury update on Jaheim Oatis, DJ Dale – Tuscaloosa Magazine

  • October 23, 2022

Alabama football defensive linemen Jaheim Oatis and D.J. Dale were unavailable to play with injuries in the Crimson Tide’s 30-6 home win over Mississippi State on Saturday. Alabama coach Nick Saban did not specify what type of injury each has.
“They’re day to day, but hopefully we’ll get one back for sure. Maybe both,” Saban said. “But it’s probably too early to tell.”

Both will have a better chance to heal given Alabama enters its bye week ahead of a road trip to LSU on Nov. 5.
Alabama is also without Justin Eboigbe on its defensive line, who has been out the last few weeks with a neck injury. Dale and Oatis have shared playing time in the interior of the Crimson Tide defensive line. The Bulldogs were unable to capitalize on their absence, running the ball for just 62 yards on 26 carries. UA rotated several players inside, including Jamil Burroughs and Damon Payne, Jr.
Dale, a senior, has eight tackles and a pair of sacks on the season. Oatis, one of Alabama’s biggest-contributing freshmen, has 20 stops and one sack on the year.
