PJ Fleck updates the injury status of Minnesota Football WR Chris Autman-Bell – 247Sports

  • September 18, 2022

While the Minnesota Football team continues to decimate any team in their path, many Gopher fans are holding their breath following an injury just before halftime. Minnesota’s top wide receiver in Chris Autman-Bell went down with a non-contact injury just before halftime, and had to be helped off the field with trainers on both arms. For those looking for what head coach PJ Fleck had to say about what Minnesota knows about Autman-Bell’s injury status, here’s what he said postgame.
Fleck: “I’m gonna start with an opening statement on CrAB, and I don’t have any extra details just yet. Once I do, you’ll know. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and we’re sending positive thoughts. It’s unfortunate as he kind of reaches back for a ball and then takes kind of a funky step and and hurts himself.
I know we got some amazing doctors, amazing medical care and I’ll let you know as soon as we know what’s going on with him. He’s a big member of this football team. I’d be lying if I say he wasn’t. He’s one of the most integral parts of what we do and how we do it on and off the field and one of the best people. But no matter what, we’re trained to Row the Boat, and he’s trained to Row the Boat. I’ve known him for eight years and no matter, he’ll put his oar back into water.
Whether we get him back or don’t, we’ll find out.
But I know we completed 12 passes and six different receivers caught balls, and I think we’re deeper than we’ve ever been. When you look at athletes and playmakers, we might not just have that one or two like maybe in past years, but when you look collectively on how we’re running our offense, there’s a lot of people involved.
And this is college football. This is the hardest part. It’s hard to see a teammate laying on the ground like that. He means so much to us, and he means so much to my family. His family means tons to this program, and my own family, and I know that whatever it is, he’ll handle it the right way. He’ll row through it, and we’ll be a better team for it, somehow someway. He’ll make us better no matter what it is…but I do not have an update. I know he’s at the hospital right now getting some images.”
As always, if more news comes out, we’ll update you.
