Carlton Morris put Luton Town ahead with his sixth goal since his summer move from Barnsley
Second-half goals from Carlton Morris and Reece Burke helped Luton Town record their first home win of the season at the expense of Blackburn Rovers.
After a cagey opening period, Morris put them ahead with his sixth goal in as many games.
Less than 10 minutes later, Burke sealed the points with a fine strike from 25 yards as the Hatters moved up to 11th.
Blackburn had come closest in the first half when Ben Brereton Diaz had a chance cleared off the line, but they slip to seventh after a fifth defeat in their past seven games.
Beginning the day in third, Rovers were in search of their first ever league win at Kenilworth Road and Chile international Brereton Diaz thought he had put them in front when he got the ball past goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, only for Hatters defender Dan Potts to hook it off the line.
This was the 600th consecutive league game in which Blackburn had named a homegrown player in their squad and they were the better side before the break.
But Nathan Jones’ side improved after the break and had already gone close through Jordan Clark and Cauley Woodrow before Morris put them in front from Clark’s cross.
Then it was game over when Burke advanced out of defence and struck an unstoppable shot beyond Rovers goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.
Having not won at home since the end of last season when they defeated Reading to secure their play-off spot, Luton will hope this result kickstarts their campaign.
However for Blackburn, there is work to do for Jon Dahl Tomasson. Having opened the season with three straight wins, they have taken only six points from their past seven games.
Luton Town manager Nathan Jones told BBC Three Counties Radio:
“It was a wonderful performance, especially second half.
“We weren’t great midweek, but we still should have won the game and we gave away a late penalty. So we’ve had to cope with a lot, but today we were magnificent.
“Second half we were aggressive, we pressed and we should have scored more goals.”
