Is Gabe Davis playing on Monday night? Fantasy injury update for Bills-Titans Week 2 Monday Night Football – Sporting News

  • September 18, 2022

Gabe Davis (ankle) was added to the Bills’ injury report on Saturday afternoon and carries a “questionable” injury tag heading into Buffalo’s Monday night clash with Tennessee. Davis’s status will certainly factor in fantasy start ’em, sit ’em decisions, so knowing his most recent injury updates — and who benefits if Davis misses Buffalo’s Week 2 contest — will be key ahead of one of your last lineup calls of the week.
We’ll continue to update this article with news on Davis up until the official active/inactive report comes out on 6:45 p.m. ET on Monday night.

Davis (ankle) was a surprise addition to Buffalo’s injury report on Saturday and was hit with a “questionable” tag following his limited participation in Saturday’s practice. It is good news that Davis was able to practice in some capacity, but his “questionable” status surely complicates things for fantasy owners who had already locked Davis into their starting lineups.

After running a route on every passing snap in Buffalo’s Week 1 win over the Rams, there’s a chance Davis fails to log a similar route participation if he ends up playing on Monday night. Even if Davis fails to run a route on every passing snap in Week 2, he’s still a must-start if active. SN Fantasy has Davis as the No. 14 WR in standard scoring and the No. 12 WR in PPR scoring
WEEK 2 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kicker

If Davis fails to suit up for MNF, fellow WRs Isaiah McKenzie, Jamison Crowder, Jake Kumerow, and Khalil Shakir will likely see an increase in snaps to fill his void. Despite Buffalo’s offense being arguably the most potent unit in the NFL, you’re still better off starting one of your bench WRs over adding one of his aforementioned replacements to your starting lineup. With Davis playing on Monday Night Football, you might not have that luxury, and if you’re in desperate need of a replacement for Davis, we’ll recommend starting McKenzie if he’s available. You could also grab someone like Jamison Crowder, Treylon Burks, Kyle Philips, K.J. Osborn, or Quez Watkins as a desperation fill-in. At this point, it appears Davis will be worth waiting for, but have a plan ready if you need to pivot quickly.
WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/ST | Kicker

Davis’ availability certainly has an effect on QB Josh Allen, and if Davis fails to play on MNF, there’s a chance Allen leans on his running ability a bit more than usual. Still, we’re not too worried about this week’s QB1.
