“Let’s begin with some cricket news,
South Africa coach Mark Boucher will leave his post after the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia later this year to pursue “other opportunities in line with his future career and personal objectives”, a statement said.
The announcement came hours after South Africa lost their three-match test series in England. Former wicketkeeper Boucher has been in the role since December 2019 and had been contracted until the end of the 2023 World Cup
CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said, “We would like to thank Mark for the time and effort he has invested in South African cricket. He has helped navigate us through some rough waters following the departures of so many senior players through retirement.””

“Baljeet Kaur was chanting hymns inside the prayer room of her residence on Monday when the news came. It was as if her prayers had been answered.
Kaur’s 23-year-old son, Arshdeep Singh, had been named in India’s 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup that will be played in Australia next month.
Arshdeep, who displayed exceptional skills in the IPL earlier this year, was one of the five pacers who cut for the T20 World Cup.
Baljeet said, “To see his name included in India’s World T20 team is a special moment for Arshdeep as well the whole family. I also prayed for Arshdeep’s good performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup to help India win the trophy,””
“Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik, who was dropped after the last T20 world cup, has posted a cryptic tweet which has been interpreted as a comment on his non-selection for Asia Cup.
After the Asia Cup final loss against Sri Lanka, Malik tweeted, “When will we come out from friendship, liking & disliking culture? Allah always helps the honest…”
Malik has played 124 T20 Internationals, scoring 2435 runs, and averaging 31.21. He has played 472 T20s, scored 11,698 runs with 71 fifties and grabbed 158 wickets.
When asked about retirement, Malik said: “I am saying very clearly today I have not even thought about retirement. I have no plans to retire now because I am fit, I can bat, I can bowl.””
“Mohammad Rizwan’s 49-ball 55 in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka was heavily criticised by the former cricketers.
Gautam Gambhir, while doing commentary, has questioned Rizwan’s batting approach and said the batter should be criticised for his slow knock. Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhter, too, made a stern comment on Rizwan’s battling knock.
Akhtar wrote on Twitter, “Rizwan, 50 of 50 is not going to work anymore. Doesn’t benefit Pakistan,”
However, Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq defended Mohammad Rizwan’s batting approach in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka and said, “It gets easy to comment from outside, one gets to know what’s happening only when they are part of the team””
Rizwan was Pakistan’s top scorer in the Asia Cup.

“Meanwhile,
Thursday’s Europa League game between Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven has been postponed due to the lack of security personnel following the death of Queen Elizabeth
UEFA said, “This is due to the severe limitations on police resources and organizational issues related to the ongoing events surrounding the national mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,”. UEFA added that they would announce the date for the match soon.
The Queen died aged 96 last week, which led to several postponements across different sports in Britain over the weekend, including Premier League and English Football League games.
Midweek Champions League games in England are also going ahead but Scottish side Rangers’ home game against Napoli on Tuesday was also rescheduled for Wednesday ”
“Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann will decide only shortly before the game which central defenders will face Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski as he returns to Munich for their Champions League Group C match on Tuesday.
Lewandowski, who scored 344 goals for Bayern in 375 games during his eight years at the club, joined the Spanish side in July in a deal worth 45 million euros. The Bundesliga’s second-highest all-time scorer forced a move from Bayern despite having a contract until 2023. He criticized the German champions who he said: “tried to find an argument why they can sell me to another club because before it was difficult to explain maybe to the fans”.
Barcelona currently tops their Champions League group.”
“Lastly,
India’s long jumper Jeswin Aldrin jumped 8.12 metres in the Golden Fly Series meet in Liechtenstein, Lucerne on Sunday.
Aldrin, India’s No. 2 long jumper, had jumped 8.37 metres, wind assisted and 8.26 metres at the Federation Cup in Calicut. But after his performance dipped and he failed to cross 8 metres the AFI omitted him from the squad for the World Championships.
The 20-year-old youngster from Tamil Nadu took to Twitter and shared his joy, “Really Happy with 8.12m in Golden Fly Series in Liechtenstein. It’s been a long season one more round to go before the end of this season. Thanks for having me here.”
Sunday’s 8-plus jump will give him confidence as he winds down the season.”
