Jude Bellingham will have dazzled Liverpool scouts with his performance against Man City.
That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future.
As per The Telegraph on Thursday (15 September), Liverpool are leading the race to sign Bellingham ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
On 27 August, sources told this site that Jurgen Klopp’s side have held extensive talks over a deal for the midfielder for next year.
Bellingham impressed and scored as his Borussia Dortmund side lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday (14 September).
When asked if Liverpool would have been encouraged by his performance against City, McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild, “his performance was amazing, his movement, his touch, his awareness.

“All of those ingredients are the makings of a real star player. I know England have a lot of players to choose from but seeing a performance like that against the elite of football, you’re thinking ‘he has to be in the England team’.
“Bellingham is absolutely playing at the top level and with top confidence. What is not to trust there? He is such a talent.”
Bellingham already has 143 senior appearances to his name after breaking into the senior Birmingham City side while still only 16.
He moved to Borussia Dortmund in July 2020 and has made 99 appearances for the German club.
