The clock is ticking towards transfer deadline day and there is still plenty of business to be done in the Premier League and beyond. The top teams have already splashed out millions on new acquisitions – but don’t expect that to stop any time soon, with the rumour mill still very much in full swing.
Manchester United continue to fill the lion’s share of the column inches, with the Red Devils desperately searching for options to bolster Erik ten Hag’s quite clearly inadequate squad. Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix and Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro are among the latest names to be linked, and who knows if there will be any further developments today.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are another team who want to make at least one or two new signings. Will the likes of Wesley Fofana, Frenkie de Jong or Anthony Gordon move closer to a switch to Stamford Bridge in the coming days?
And with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham also set to monitor the market until the final day, expect plenty more twists and turns in this most fascinating of transfer windows.
Express Sport rounds up all the latest transfer rumours and done deals below…
Good morning everyone!
We’ve got a brand new blog up and running here.
Manchester United have had a £67.5m bid for Antony rejected by Antony, The Athletic have reported.
Antony has long been linked with the Red Devils but Ajax are remaining firm in their stance that he will not be sold.
The 22-year-old has already scored in the Eredivisie this season.
Houssem Aouar is out of Lyon’s squad for their Ligue 1 game against Troyes.
However, the Premier League-linked midfielder has insisted that his absence is due to an ankle injury.
Aouar has been linked with Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
Responding to a journalist saying he had been left out for ‘sporting reasons’, the 24-year-old responded with the following tweet.
It translates as: “I was just in care today and practically all week…(ankle) call me when you want to write about me.”

Manchester United have turned down the chance to sign Weston McKennie, according to reports.
It comes amid news that the Red Devils failed to conclude a deal for McKennie’s Juventus team-mate Adrien Rabiot.
United were offered the chance to sign the American McKennie as they scramble to strengthen ahead of the transfer deadline.
The Daily Telegraph claim the Old Trafford hierarchy have declined the chance to pursue a transfer.
Chelsea offered £50m for Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente but the midfielder, according to reports in Spain.
The Blues are desperate to continue adding to their squad before the end of the transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel has made several signings but wants more.
A midfielder is believed to be high on their agenda but they have been turned down by Spaniard Llorente, Spanish publication Relevo claim.
Everton consider their rejection of Chelsea’s £45m bid for Anthony Gordon to be the end of the matter, Express Sport understands.
Chelsea made an offer including add-ons for the England U21 starlet.
Everton do not want to sell the player, who is loved by the Goodison Park faithful having come through the club’s academy system. Man Utd’s pursuit of PSV star Cody Gakpo would be ‘easier’ to complete than a deal for Ajax winger Antony, according to reports.
The Red Devils are desperate for reinforcements all over the pitch but especially in attack.
They have targeted Gakpo and Antony in a bid to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s options.
But transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that a deal for the former would be ‘easier’ to complete than one for Antony.
Both players are well known to Ten Hag.
Tottenham could use Sergio Reguilon in discussions over signing Ruslan Malinovskyi from Atalanta, according to Italian reports.
Spurs want to sign Malinovskyi but talks have been difficult. The Premier League side want a loan move, but Atalanta would prefer to sell the player permanently.
Calcio Mercato claim that Spurs could use Atalanta’s interest in left-back Reguilon to make the deal easier to complete.
Reguilon is surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Manchester United will make another approach for Ajax winger Antony before the end of the transfer window, according to reports.
The Red Devils have rekindled their interest in the Brazilian having seemingly given up on a deal earlier in the window.
Wide-ranging reports claim that United feel Ajax could soften their £70m demand before the September 1 transfer deadline.
And Fabrizio Romano reports that United will make another offer in the coming weeks.
However, the deal is difficult to complete.
Manchester United transfer target Casmiro feels ‘marginalised’ at Real Madrid due to the arrival of Aurelien Tchouameni, according to reports.
It could lead to the Brazilian opting to join the Red Devils this summer in a bid to keep his place in the Brazil squad ahead of the World Cup.
Madrid signed Tchouameni earlier this summer and Casemiro feels ‘marginalised’, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Antonio Conte has revealed that Tottenham could make more signings despite welcoming seven new arrivals.
Spurs have strengthened the Italian’s squad with a view to being competitive in domestic and European competitions.
And the North Londoners will make further signings if players leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He said on Thursday: “I think that we are okay and if someone goes away then for sure another player has to come.
“Especially if some player wants to go and play regularly and it’s difficult to keep them here.”
Players leaving Spurs before the September 1 deadline is a strong possibility. Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Sergio Reguilon have all been linked with deaprtures. Chelsea will this evening sit down with the representatives of Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to discuss personal terms over a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who says the Blues are preparing their first official bid for the Gabon striker, who is now 33.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers refused to reveal what he and Wesley Fofana have spoken about but says there have been no more bids for the defender.
The Foxes have rejected two offers from Chelsea and want more than £80million to sell the Frenchman, which would make him the most expensive defender of all time.
Rodgers added: “I don’t think so far ahead. The idea is that he is very much a Leicester player. He’s not for sale. Unless anything changes, I would expect him to be here.
Asked if Fofana has handed in a transfer request, the manager continued: “Yes, I can [clear that up]. He hasn’t.”

Nottingham Forest are set to secure their 16th (not a typo!) signing of the summer transfer window in the form of Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White.
Forest have struck a £35million agreement for the midfielder who shone on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship last season, say The Telegraph.
England under-21 international Gibbs-White will have a medical today to become Forest’s latest new signing of a very busy summer while they still want to land Houssem Aouar from Lyon too.
The Athletic meanwhile add the deal for Gibbs-White, 22, could eventually reach £44.5m.
#nffc are set to (finally) sign #Wolves forward Morgan Gibbs-White. Fee of around u00a335m agreed, plus significant add-ons. Gibbs-White expected for a medical later today. Will be signing #16 for Forest this summer #wwfc
Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is in Rome for a medical with Napoli and will join on a season-long loan.
The Italian giants will pay an initial an initial loan fee of around £850,000 (€1million) and have an option to make the move permanent next summer.
Doing so will cost them £25m, which would represent a loss of £27m for Spurs on the fee they paid Lyon for the Frenchman three years ago.
Borussia Dortmund are claimed to be the only club who can offer Cristiano Ronaldo a way out of Manchester United in the next two weeks.
The Portugal captain’s agent Jorge Mendes continues to look for a Champions League team who can take Ronaldo away from the struggling Red Devils.
And Dortmund are now said, per CBS Sports, to be the last side who could grant Ronaldo his wish of playing in Europe’s top-tier competition again this term.
Borussia Dortmund is Cristiano Ronaldou2019s last hope of a #MUFC exit this summer with Jorge Mendes still pushing for an offer.
A move to Sporting was never on. No appetite at Ronaldou2019s end despite #UCL football and pushback from Ruben Amorim.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s entourage deny claims that he is causing unrest in the Manchester United dressing room or eating lunch alone, according to CBS Sports.
The Portuguese asked to leave Old Trafford last month and his agents are believed to be trying to find him a new club.
Reports recently emerged stating that United could terminate his contract unless his attitude improves.
Ronaldo has featured in each of the Red Devils’ two Premier League matches this season, drawing a blank on both occasions.
Real Madrid star Casemiro is reportedly open to joining Manchester United with talks ‘progressing’.
Spanish media indicate that all parties are open to the idea with a mammoth offer set to be lodged by the Red Devils.
There has been talk of United preparing to pay £67million for the Brazilian and double his current wages, which would take them to £360,000 a week.
They are eyebrow-raising sums for a player who is set to turn 31 in February. West Ham have withdrawn from negotiations for Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri, according to The Daily Mail.
The Hammers couldn’t visualise an agreement on personal terms with the Italy international’s wage demands thought to be too high.
Manager David Moyes is set to explore other options as he looks to provide competition and back-up for Aaron Cresswell.
Arsenal are set to send teenager Salah Oulad M’Hand on loan to Hull City this summer, according to our very own Ryan Taylor.
The deal for the 18-year-old could be confirmed within the next 24 hours and will include a permanent option that the Tigers have the choice to active in 12 months’ time.

Brighton are eyeing a permanent transfer for Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour, according to The Daily Mail.
The Seagulls and the Blues have already conducted recent negotiations as Marc Cucurella headed to Stamford Bridge and Levi Colwill moved the other way.
Gilmour could find opportunities extremely limited under Thomas Tuchel with a host of midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order.
Brighton may have to replace in-demand midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer with Manchester United among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Chelsea are set to announce the signing of Italian youngster Cesare Casadei later today, according to the Evening Standard.
The Blues have finalised a £12.6million deal with Inter Milan for the 19-year-old, who is expected to join up with Thomas Tuchel’s development squad.
Omari Hutchinson and Carney Chukwuemeka have already been snapped up by Chelsea this summer with a growing collection of promising young talent at Stamford Bridge.
Nice are plotting a loan move for Arsenal outcast Nicolas Pepe, according to The Daily Mail.
The Ivorian arrived at the Emirates from Lille back in 2019 for a whopping £72million and he has failed to live up to his billing.
Pepe is now fourth-choice winger under Mikel Arteta with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe all ahead in the pecking order.
The Gunners are unlikely to stand in the way of an exit this summer after Pepe scored just once in the Premier League last term.
In yet another Manchester United transfer update, the Red Devils are believed to be eyeing up Everton back-up goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
The Telegraph claim that the Toffees are desperate to keep him on Merseyside but the Bosnia Herzegovina international, 35, could jump at the chance to become David De Gea’s understudy at Old Trafford.
There is an outside chance of mounting a challenge for the No 1 spot under Erik ten Hag after De Gea’s disastrous performance against Brentford last weekend.
Begovic has previously had back-up spells at Chelsea and AC Milan. United came under fire for letting previous second choice, Dean Henderson, join Nottingham Forest earlier this summer. Atletico Madrid star and former Golden Boy winner Joao Felix was the subject of a mammoth £110million bid from Manchester United this week, according to reports.
The Red Devils are surveying multiple options in Madrid, not just at Atletico, as Erik ten Hag looks to fill vacancies in midfield and attack.
Los Colchoneros weren’t impressed with United’s approach and pointed to Felix’s £300m release clause.
The Portuguese kicked off his La Liga campaign with a hat-trick of assists in a 3-0 win over Getafe on Monday night.
Manchester United have been handed two further transfer blows by Chelsea. The Blues are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, and will also block United’s interest in Christian Pulisic.
Casemiro emerged as a target for the Red Devils earlier this week. A move for Adrien Rabiot fell through during discussions over personal terms, so Erik ten Hag is in the market for another midfielder.
But 90min claim that Chelsea actually have a long-standing interest in the Brazilian and are considering a move before the end of the window. The report says signing a player of Casemiro’s style has been a priority for Thomas Tuchel.
Manchester United are ready to bring their interest in Ajax winger Antony back to life and make a blockbuster approach for Erik ten Hag’s priority attacking target. The Red Devils are set to launch their final push for Antony in the coming days amid a dramatic end to the summer transfer window.
United had hoped to reunite Ten Hag with the 22-year-old earlier this summer, after their successful relationship in the Netherlands. However, Ajax inflated their asking price from £68million to £84m to signify that he wasn’t for sale after losing several other key first-team stars.
But just as United’s pursuit was seemingly dead and buried, there could be hope for Ten Hag and supporters. According to Sky Sports, the club are back in for Antony and will present a ‘massive offer’ to Ajax this week.
