With 58 seconds remaining and the score tied at 31, the Dons (0-2) got the ball back at their own 25 yard line. They attempted to move the ball down the field to get into field goal position but instead went three and out, giving the Raiders one more possession with 33 seconds remaining.
Moorpark was then able to advance the ball to the SAC 20-yard line where it called a timeout before kicking the game winning 36-yard field goal.
Santa Ana College quarterback Ceasar Ayala threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Dons. Receiver Kyran Hayes had a big day with a career best nine catches for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
