Kevin Campbell has claimed Erik ten Hag’s weak-foot training revolution could be a “game-changing” development for Man United.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed getting players acquainted with their weaker side will allow the Red Devils to move the ball more quickly.
According to Manchester Evening News (12 September), Ten Hag has placed an emphasis on strengthening the weaker foot of certain players in drills conducted after the squad’s main sessions.
The report claims left-footer Luke Shaw is chief among the stars being targeted by the Dutchman’s new regime.
Shaw started the first two games of the season but hasn’t appeared in Man United’s last four league outings after being replaced by Tyrell Malacia.
Campbell recalled partaking in similar sessions with Arsenal, Everton and Trabzonspor during his professional career.

He told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “It’s an area which can definitely be improved upon all the way up until the end of a career.
“I remember doing sessions like that with Pat Rice at Arsenal. I’ve done sessions like that in Turkey, and at Everton.
“Being able to play with your weaker foot – some say wrong foot – isn’t a bad thing.
“If you’re ever in a tight spot and the ball falls on your weaker side, you feel a lot more confident in being able to shift the ball quickly.
“This may be what is going to get Man United going, and using that ability in defence, midfield, and attack can change a game.
“If everyone’s more comfortable playing with their weaker foot then it will improve the whole team.
“You’re always learning as a footballer.”
