Derby County defender James Chester could be set to face Manchester City's under-21s in the EFL Trophy next week.
The former Aston Villa defender has yet to make his debut for the Rams after signing in the summer due to tendinopathy in his Achilles. Chester is back in training, but was not in the squad for last night's defeat to Lincoln City with interim Rams boss Liam Rosenior not willing to rush him back into action.
But the former Hull defender, a former team-mate of Rosenior at the Tigers, now looks likely to be involved against City in the Papa John's Trophy. Speaking after last night's 2-0 defeat against the Imps, Rosenior said: "James is looking really good.

"I need to get him up to full fitness. I think he will be available for the Tuesday game against Manchester City next week. He's not ready yet. I am not going to push him into something. He needs a mini pre-season at the moment."
News of Chester's potential return comes after Curtis Davies made his long-awaited return from a thigh problem at Sincil Bank last night.
However, goalkeeper Joseph Anang, who signed on a season-long loan from West Ham, is still out with a fractured arm while Korey Smith is still battling a toe problem.
