Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football’s 48-14 win over Connecticut convinced a couple more FBS coaches it might deserve to be ranked.
The Orange received seven votes in the Week 2 USA Today Coaches Poll released Monday. That’s an increase of two votes from Week 1 but is still significantly removed from the number SU would need to crack the Top 25.
Syracuse is one of 49 FBS programs that is still undefeated.
The five ACC programs ranked in the poll last week remained ranked, though all but Clemson moved around. North Carolina State (No. 12), Miami (No. 13) and Wake Forest (No. 18) all moved up in the poll, while Pittsburgh dropped 11 spots down to No. 25.
Florida State and North Carolina also received votes.
Syracuse has still not been ranked by any AP Top 25 voters. The same five ACC programs ranked in the coaches poll are also included in the AP rankings.
