Nottingham Forest vs Fulham update as two statements issued amid police concerns – Nottinghamshire Live

Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive brings you an update regarding next week’s Premier League fixture against Fulham
Nottingham Forest will have to wait for a decision whether their Premier League clash with Fulham will go ahead following the postponement of the game against Leeds United.
The death of Queen Elizabeth II caused the Premier League and EFL to make the decision to postpone all of this weekend's fixtures as a mark of respect, despite some other sports continuing as normal.
The Reds were due to make the trip to Elland Road on Monday evening as they sought to respond to last weekend's 3-2 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth, but the decision was made on Friday afternoon to call the game off.

There are concerns that next weekend's round of fixtures could now be postponed too. It's expected that thousands of police officers from across the nation will be required to work in the capital for the Queen's funeral – rumoured to be taking place on Monday, September 19.
However, despite the mass redeployment of officers, there seems to be a willingness on the police's part to ensure football returns next weekend. The Metropolitan Police told our sister title football.london: "Whether matches go ahead is a matter for the football authorities. If fixtures do take place, the Met will work with the relevant partners and ensure that appropriate policing plans are in place."
The Government allowed the Premier League to make their own decision over this weekend's fixtures and have confirmed they will do the same for Forest's home game against Marco Silva's side. In a new statement, the Department of Culture, Media and Sport said: "Our guidance will stay the same. There's no obligation to cancel as far as the government is concerned. But it's ultimately up to the Premier League and EFL to make those decisions."
Forest's fixture against Fulham takes place on Friday evening due to the Royal London Cup final between Kent Spitfires and Lancashire Lighting on the Saturday. However, should the game be postponed, Steve Cooper's side will have gone four weeks before a fixture when they travel to East Midlands rivals Leicester City on October 3.
