Rangers have confirmed their clash with Napoli is currently planned to go ahead next week – but say talks are ongoing.
There has been uncertainty over British clubs' participation in European competition next week after all professional matches scheduled to go ahead this weekend were called off as a mark of respect for the Queen's passing. The Ibrox side are supposed to host the Italians in the Champions League on Tuesday following their 4-0 defeat to Ajax on match day one.
In an update to supporters, they say they are aware of policing pressures but that the game is currently still being planned for. However they add that they are locked in discussions with UEFA and police.
The statement said: "At this difficult time for the United Kingdom, we are cognisant of ongoing uncertainty regarding supporter arrangements and travel plans for next week.
"We are aware of policing and resource pressures, especially on Tuesday, 13th September.
"We can confirm that discussions are taking place between UEFA, Police Scotland and Rangers regarding our scheduled UEFA Champions League fixture v Napoli on Tuesday, 13th September.
"As present, the game is scheduled to take place at the scheduled date and time."
Rangers were due to play Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow lunchtime, at that fixture will now have to be fit in somewhere – along with Celtic's match against Livingston and Hearts against St Mirren.
The other games affected are Dundee United hosting Hibs, St Johnstone travelling to Kilmarnock and Motherwell at Ross County. With none of those clubs in Europe, it should be easier to find a midweek slot for them.
It's thought next weekend's card could be affected too by the Queen's funeral and news on that is expected in due course.
