Leeds United employee can’t believe Rodrigo update amid ‘eight weeks’ claim – Football Insider

Noel Whelan has insisted news of the “four-week” prognosis of Rodrigo’s injury is “very welcome” for Leeds United.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, revealed his surprise at the 31-year-old’s limited layoff after spending eight weeks on the sidelines with a similar injury during his career.
Rodrigo was forced off in the first half of the 1-1 draw against Everton last week (30 August) after dislocating his shoulder.
The Spain international had started the new campaign in red-hot form, scoring four goals and notching one assist in the opening five games.
Speaking on The Athletic‘s matchday forum (3 September), journalist Phil Hay revealed Rodrigo could return in as little as three to four weeks as he doesn’t require surgery on the injury.
Whelan suggested the layoff “could have been a lot worse” for the former Valencia man – and drew on some personal experience.

He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I was very surprised to hear that he could be back inside four weeks.
“I dislocated my shoulder and it actually took me more like eight weeks to get the strength up. As a forward, you use your arms a lot with jumping and running.
“I’m very happy if that’s the case. Four weeks without our top scorer isn’t ideal, but it could have been a lot worse.
“I think he’ll be working very hard to get himself back out there and he’ll be very welcome when he does come back.”
