Kevin Campbell has claimed Barcelona midfielder Gavi would be a “brilliant” signing for Liverpool next year.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 18-year-old is “technically gifted and knows where the back of the net is.”
Gavi has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta told L’Esportiu (25 May) that the midfielder’s agent has a “new contract proposal on the table” but “has not accepted yet.”
According to Bild’s Christian Falk (4 September), Bayern Munich have joined Liverpool and Man United in the race for the Spain international.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been criticised for not making a significant addition to their midfield in the summer.

When asked by Football Insider if Gavi would be a welcome addition at Anfield, Campbell said: “Gavi is a really good young player.
“He is technically gifted and knows where the back of the net is. If he comes onto the market there will be quite a few clubs coveting him.
‘He is a brilliant player and is one who would definitely improve that Liverpool team. He could be at the club for five to 10 years as well.
“I would expect Liverpool to be knocking on the door if he was to become available.”
Gavi has impressed for Barcelona this season.
He has made five appearances across all competitions, three of which have been starts.
In other news, a pundit ‘loves’ what he has heard from Fabio Carvalho at Liverpool.
